In Italy you need a valid passport or identity card. Don't forget your tickets and reservations, money, traveler's cheques and credit cards. You can pay by credit card, which is accepted almost everywhere, and take money from cash dispensers if you have a credit card linked to an international network (Eurocard, Cirrus, Plus, Maestro etc.).

Remember that the currency in Italy is the "Euro" (abbreviation EUR, symbol €), so with cash dispenser you can only receive Euros. Don't forget to bring cash for the first few days of your stay.
